During 2007-9, our W.Bro. Ron Clarke divided our charitable efforts between the Lymphoma Association and the St.Clare Hospice.
As you can see in their letters, each of these worthy causes received more than £1000:

W.Bro. Colin Sutton, our Worshipful Master in 2005-6, selected the Stroke Association to be the beneficiary of all Lodge charities raised during his year of office. The first event of the new year was a Ladies' Festival held at Bournemouth over the weekend of November 11th to 13th. 2005. This event raised a not insignificant total of £1017.88p due the the efforts of the W.Master and his lovely wife, Louise, ably supported by their lovely daughter, Kathryn and the equally lovely Hannah and Rebekah Evans.

CHARITY GOLF DAY 2005
Some friends of GOSH prior to the battle commencing on the Glorious Twelfth
Following the success of the Charity Golf day in 2004 the Lodge decided to hold another charity golf day at Brickendon Grange Golf Club. The event is to be known as the 'Steven Gunter Memorial Golf Competition' and will be held annually to perpetuate the memory of Bro.Steve Gunter who sadly died due to a sudden heart attack at a very young age. All funds raised will be donated to the heart ward at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children. This years event was held on Friday, 12th August 2005 and 31 members and friends played a Stapleford competition and 52 members, families and friends joined the players in the evening for a superb buffet dinner. Music for the evening was supplied by W.Bro. Colin Sutton, the current Master of the Lodge, and his D.J. business partner Mr. Chris Wortley, younger brother of the Lodge Charity Steward, W.Bro. Steve Wortley. A raffle was held with all prizes donated by members and friends. The proceeds from the raffle together with donations and balance from admission charges amounted to £1120 which will be transferred to G.O.S.H. in the near future.
The golfing competition was won by W.Bro. Maurice Gunter, father of Steven, with a very creditable score of 40 points on what is a very demanding course.
Maurice was presented with his trophy by his youngest grand-daughter Alice Reader.

A New Charity for 2004
Our new Master this year, W.Bro. Tony Evans has decided that his charity for this year will be Great Ormond Street Hospital Childrens Charity- GOSHCC. With regard to the special care unit for children with heart disease. This unit has, for a number of years, been treating Tony's young son. Another of our lodge members, W.Bro. Maurice Gunter, who himself has undergone heart surgery, suffered the loss of his dear son, Steven, earlier in the year due to heart disease. Steven too was a member of our lodge. Maurice and Tony got their heads together and arranged a charity Golf Day & Barbeque in an effort to raise funds for GOSHCC. The event took place at Brickendon Grange Golf Club on Friday July, 30th.2004. About 30 lodge members and friends enjoyed a very enjoyable day on the course, in blistering sunshine and were pleased to pay for the pleasure. Later in the evening a further 40 or so members and families joined the golfers for an excellent barbeque and danced the night away to music supplied by the lodge deejay. Bro. Colin Sutton. The sum of £1200 was raised for the charity and a good time was had by all. A few days later W. Bro. Maurice was pleased to present a cheque for this sum to Ms. Joan Kearns, the General Fundraising Manager for GOSHCC. The money will go towards a specialised piece of equipment needed to assist in the care of heart patients and the Lodge hopes that further monies will be raised for the same project.
Letter of thanks from the hospital.

During the year of 2000 to 2001 the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. JohnTippett decided that all Lodge charities would be donated to a non - masonic charity.
Our selected charity was
The North London Hospice,
47,Woodside Avenue, Finchley, N12 8TF.
As shown elsewhere on this website the sum of £715 was raised by members and friends at the annual Ladies Festival held at Bournemouth in February 2001. This magnificent sum was due to the efforts of W.Bro Paul Evans and the charming ladies of his party who sold many raffle tickets at the Festival and also to the many prizes generously donated by the Brethren of the Lodge.
On that same evening W. Bro. Paul announced that he was in strict training and had entered The London Marathon; he asked for sponsorship from the assembled company stating that all monies raised would be donated to the Master's List.
Although W.Bro. Paul sustained a severe injury to his left knee during his training he was undeterred and successfully completed the course in a very creditable time. His effort was rewarded by the superb sum of £2000 in sponsorship which has also been sent to assist the work of the North London Hospice.

W. BRO. PAUL EVANS CROSSES THE FINISHING LINE
The Lodge Treasurer W.Bro. Steve Wortley
contacted Mrs.Pauline Treen, the Director of Fund Raising at the hospice and it was decided that the Lodge would
sponsor a Home Care nurse for a two month period.
The total cost of this sponsorship is £4,500. The members of the Lodge decided to take the extra money from
the Lodge Benevolent Fund to subsidise this worthy cause.
The accounts were finalised and on Tuesday 19th August, 2003 W.Bro.John & Tina Tippett, accompanied by the
Lodge Treasurer and the Lodge Secretary spent a very pleasant hour at the hospice. They were given a very informative tour
of the facility by Pauline Treen and Maria Turnbull, Community Nursing Manager. All were very much impressed by the
high level of care rendered to the patients. At the end of the visit W.Bro. John Tippett was pleased to present Mrs. Treen with a cheque for
£2,740 to be added to the sum already
donated.
